Another definition of wellness comes from the National Wellness Institute (2020), “Wellness is an active process through which people become aware of, and make choices toward, a more successful existence.” Seeing wellness as an active process is a valuable perspective to have and share with you. This includes an honest evaluation of self. I can be a mirror, in a sense, where your evaluations are heard and reflected back to you. You are presented with your own perspective from someone else. I can then ask questions about the goals and strategies to learn yourr goals, without putting my own biases or directions on you. I am a great resource, but I do not tell you what to do, how to live, and what choices to make nor do I provide rules to follow. I will help you find your own best path, which, in turn, leads to increased self-fulfillment.
